Indoor plants that help to clean and/or purify the air

At Yard Designs and More we don't want to limit ourselves or especially you to just outdoor planters so we seek to offer different applications and types of planters and tons of ideas.  All of this revolves around you.

Our planters would be a great addition to any setting from the home to the office.  Entry way to the kitchen and excellent next to the grill with all your favorite herbs happily waiting.

But in this post lets just concentrate on on indoor plants that are not only appealing to the eye, they are beneficial to the health for their air cleansing and/or purification abilities.

The NASA studies generated the recommendation that you use 15 to 18 good-sized houseplants in 6 to 8-inch diameter containers to improve air quality in an average 1,800 square foot house. The more vigorously they grow, the better job they'll do for you. With the exception of dwarf banana, a fairly unusual plant in this area, the bulk of the list of plants NASA tested reads like a "Who's Who" of the interior plant world. They are:

Ficus benjamina

Ficus benjamina
(Weeping fig)

'Freecycle' Changing the world one gift at a time

Hi Everyone,  I am blogging again about Going GREEN. This is a fantastic idea!

Spring is here for most of us, officially March 20th for the northern hemisphere.  Typically this is the time that most people like to do that thing called 'Spring Cleaning'. I know and  you know you really need to clean out your closets and garage. Out with the old and in with the new. Oh Boy, how we all love to do these projects. Snicker, Snicker.  You may find yourself asking 'What am I going to do with all this JUNK I am throwing out and don't need? I really hate to take it to the dump.'  Answer:  'I know what I will do,  I'll join Freecycle and give it away. Yes, I said GIVE it away.  'One mans trash is another mans Treasure'! I love giveaway's!

About Freecycle

Their mission statement  "Our mission is to build a worldwide gifting movement that reduces waste, saves precious resources & eases the burden on our landfills while enabling our members to benefit from the strength of a larger community."
The Freecycle Network™ is made up of 4,885 groups with 7,017,000 members across the globe. It's a grassroots and entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving (& getting) stuff for free in their own towns. It's all about reuse and keeping good stuff out of landfills. Each local group is moderated by a local volunteer (them's good people). Membership is free.

So, do you think you can hold on to it for two more days before sending it to your local landfill?
I am willing to give it a try.

Does your Heart Need Tugging?

A Heart Warming Etsy FEST Member's Shop
I was searching on Etsy most of last night and today looking for products for an Etsy Treasury that I plan on setting my alarm for just in case I need a nap before then. I belong to a team  called  FEST Florida Etsy Street Team. Although I have snagged one other Treasury since becoming a member of Etsy, I am new to FEST so I really needed to shop other team members items to prepare for the treasury. Beings I have Spring Fever I have come up with a theme name of 'Spring Bouquet of many Colors' in anticipation for spring to start. I have discovered a very talented and crafty and group of team members and some  heart warming shops . We have 455 members and I have barely scratched the surface with my Treasury search although I have enough products to do one.
One of these talented and crafty and especially heart-warming shops that I have discovered is "Lazydayz".
I have never spoke to this Team member but I was truly inspired by her shop. Quote from Lazydayz's page
BREAST CANCER/CANCER Charities receive at least TEN PERCENT of the sales of all of my items. I figure I am being kept around for a reason, and since this also serves as my Art Therapy, I need to share a little more love. "
Lazydazy thanks for inspiring me today. Blessing to you my FEST team member. I belong to a GREAT team!
Here is one of my favorites from her shop I so would love to own.

Stop in on her profile while you are there.
If you were inspired by this story let me know by telling  Lazydyz that Yarddesigns & More says "Thanks".

"SAVING OUR PLANET" One person at a time!

Let's Talk about going GREEN.
In today's world of many people discovering and wanting to do things GREEN I came across this while learning about a Yahoo group that I just joined. The Yahoo group is called FEST- Florida Etsy Street Team Members. We are dedicated to promoting artists and crafters that sell on Etsy and live in Sunny Florida!
My discovery is about Solar Seamstress. This is her Bio from her Etsy page:
"I was taught to sew at about age 8 on a toy machine, making doll clothes. Since then I have progressively sewn all types of garments for women, men, children, home decor, etc.

Now, I power my sewing projects with a small, battery powered solar electric system. The system also powers my computer and television.

My products are made with recycled or leftover fabrics, clothes or linens to create new items. I encourage everyone to find creative ways to reuse the "leftovers" that our consumer oriented lifestyle produces and to support renewable energy in their own area."

Although she has few items in her shop. I believe in the way she makes her products.
Visit her page here

Congratulations Solar Seamstress in helping to "SAVE OUR PLANET"

I ask of all who read this to tell me what do u do to "SAVE OUR PLANET"?

Tell me where you are from
